What?: Dubbed by Marie Claire as a Skincare Superpower…….South Korea(SoKo) is famous for their skincare products and also the multi-step “routine” that goes along with it. Korean skincare products have become the next “in” thing over the past few years here in the States as well. Having always been curious about beauty and skincare from far away places, I have a growing obsession with these products.
I recently hit the motherload when my fabulous bestie, Erin, gave me a slew of Korean beauty products for my birthday.
Why?: Innovation, Creativity and fun packaging. Natural ingredients are at the forefront of this country’s skincare infatuation. I have been curious about the Korean skincare regime, but not entirely sure where to start. Innovative ingredients like snail mucin, bee venom, sea kelp and hyaluronic acid are just some of the elements that make up the multitude of Korean beauty products. Furthermore, products are not nearly as expensive as products here in the US, making them easy to try. So, why not?
Some brands that I like: Laneige, Missha, Tony Moly, Etude House and Sum.
I’m kind of in love with the Sum Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick. First of all, it has rose petals in it! So how do you use it, you ask? You wet your face and rub the cleansing stick all around. It creates a light foam,et voilà! Bonus: because its a stick, its easy to travel with!
Also fun are the face masks. They come in every flavor that you can imagine from broccoli for vitality to pomegranate for elasticity. These have been around for a few years, but I just joined the bandwagon and I love them. US companies have started to make and carry them, but they are quite a bit more expensive than the Korean brands. Why not try the original? I like the Etude House and Tony Moly masks.
What has been your experience with these products?
